Europe Tour (Day 1)
Depart from KL 14th June 2007, hampir jam 12 midnite. Sedikit cuak, this was going to be the longest flight I've ever boarded, almost 12 hours to get to Paris. Dah la sedikit sangat Malaysian around, dah la aku cewek travel sendiri. Namun harapan untuk bertemu lelaki Perancis kacak masih menggebu2 di hati sanubari. Yang kacak memang ramai, tapi melirik pun tidak ke arah aku. Mungkinkah kerana mereka racist? Mungkinkah kerana saya bertudung maka saya dianggap terrorist? Segala kemungkinan-kemungkinan ini mengocakkan kewarasan saya, maka saya memilih utk tidur saja.
Disebelah saya ada seorang gadis Perancis cantik (darn! I was hoping to seat beside a good looking French man, naturally) tapi Tuhan berkehendak yg lain, saya redha. Her name's Emily, very friendly, speaks fluent English, and she gave me a crash course on what to expect in France.
But she didn't prepare me dgn apa yang harus dilakukan bila bagasi hilang di airport. Dan itulah yang terjadi kepada saya. Saya membawa 2 bagasi, tapi cuma 1 yang keluar walaupun sehingga conveyor berhenti bergerak, saya masih termangu menunggu. Si*lan. Buat report, berdoa beg saya dijumpai seberapa pantas. Mujur bonda packingkan 2 beg, (ye, bonda yg packing kan) so essential items masih ada lagi. Tak terbayang if I've to purchase a whole new batch of clothes, dgn mata wang Euro. Boleh botak kepala dan bulu kaki.
Peon jemput di Airport Charles Du Gaulles. Jln2 carik wc, alih2 terserempak with a familiar face depan lift...Azzwaa, junior from SSP. Turned out she's on holiday in paris as well. Took RER (somewhat like our komuter system here, tapi double decker! Hahaha...imagine that!) to Peon friend's place where we gonna stay while in Paris. Taruk2 barang, mandi2, keluar balik to explore Paris. Our first stop...Eiffel Tower! Beribu batu jauhnya aku berjalan nak tgk menara besi ni. But the lift to the top bermasalah, so we didnt go up on that day, thot we'd do it later in my trip. Next stop, Notre Dame.
Notre Dame de Paris, often known simply as Notre Dame in English, is a Gothic cathedral on the eastern half of the Île de la Cité in Paris, France, with its main entrance to the west. It is still used as a Roman Catholic cathedral and is the seat of the Archbishop of Paris. Notre Dame de Paris is widely considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. It was restored and saved from destruction by Viollet-le-Duc, one of France's most famous architects. Notre Dame translates as "Our Lady" from French.
But before that we stopped at The Hôtel de Ville (French for "City Hall"), the building housing the City of Paris's administration. Basically, the mayor's office.
Had Chicken Kebab for lunch, while Peon had Couscous at this Arab kebab joint near Notre Dame.
Then we head to the The Louvre Museum (French: Musée du Louvre) which is the most visited and one of the oldest, largest, and most famous art galleries and museums in the world. It was previously a royal palace and holds some of the world's most famous works of art, among them, Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa.
The Louvre and many of its works of art are featured prominently in Dan Brown's novel, The Da Vinci Code and in the 2006 film adaptation. The Louvre is the main setting in the prologue and first few chapters of the book and parts of the movie.
On Friday, ppl under the age of 26 boleh masuk free! Diulang...FREE!
Maka kami pun berjalan lah dengan gembira sampai kaki sengal dan kejang, sampai museum dah nak tutup at 9. Since it was summer, pukul 9 masih terang benderang lagi. Pukul 10 baru mulai nak gelap.
Head back, rest. zzzzzzzzZZzzzzzZz....
