Ada apa dengan nama?

What Farina Means

You are loving, compassionate, and ruled by your feelings.

You are able to be a foundation for other people... but you still know how to have fun.

Sometimes your emotions weigh you down, but you generally feel free from them.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.

You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.

You have the classic “Type A” personality.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.

You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.

You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.

You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

Terbakar Keluar (Err...Burned out?)

You Are 62% Burned Out

You are very burned out.

You need a huge break from your responsibilities, starting as soon as possible.

And you need this time to reevaluate what you really want out of your life.

Because you're working hard and going no where... and that would burn anyone out!

Nampaknya. Memang saya perlu istirehat.

Alasanku

Pelik bila diberi kesempatan membuat pahala, semuanya lari macam Chitara lari laju tertanggal baju.

"kucing saya tunggu hari nak bersalin"

dan yang paling buat saya terkesima
"huh! tak hengen aku nak pergi!"

MasyaAllah.

Siapa yang rugi? Mereka dan keluarga mereka.

Press Release for Sheila on 7’s New Album - Menentukan Arah

source : Sheila Management (Anton Kurniawan). Taken from ramblingthots

Sheila On 7

MENENTUKAN ARAH – LAGU PER LAGU

1. Betapa

Maaf, Pak Min :-D

Majlis nikah di rumah pengantin perempuan, di Bandar Manjalara. Pakcik saya tenang sahaja, dengan sekali lafaz Auntie Yuniz dah selamat bergelar suri! Tahniah kerana tidak menghampakan harapan keluarga, Pak Min! hahaha...

Menurunkan ilmu buat anak saudara yang masih belum berpunya. *haish*

Saya dengan pasangan pengantin. Nak juga menyelit kat tengah-tengah tu. Konon macam comel.

(Apa tidaknya, anak-anak ikan! :p)

Azmin & Yuniz. :-)

Semoga bahagia hingga hujung waktu!

Yang Terlewatkan

Tajuk single baru Sheilaon7.

Eross, saya benci lah awak! Awak suka buat lagu-lagu yang menyentap-nyentap perasaan, menikam-nikam jiwa. Awak baca diari saya dan buat lagu eh?

Sekali lagi, album Sheilaon7 jadi lagu tema hidup saya.

Kemana kau s'lama ini
Hingga dari yang kunanti
Kenapa baru sekarang
Kita dipertemukan...

Encik Eross, saya nak belasah awak boleh tak? Awak jahat, suka buat saya menangis!

p/s: Saya suka album ini.

Baru mendapat perkhabaran gembira. E.C sudah kembali solo. Mungkin saya harus belajar buat roti canai :p

Sayap-sayap Patah

Saya rasa...macam hendak terbang lagi.

p/s: Saya baru ditanya 1 soalan. "Tahukah Cik Farina, pesawat diatas, model apa?"
Yang jelas, saya memang tak tahu. Sekarang saya dah tahu.

"Belanja lagi, belanja lagi..."

Contact

I didn't go out and bought myself a new phone. Yet. Have actually gotten used to not having a phone. Dan nak simpan duit for my next leaving on the jet plane trip. But I do realize communication is vital these days, (aptly called 'my lifeline' by some) maka...n72 telah dihantar ke doktor telepon.

So you can contact me via phone once again! Silalah calling2 dan ceritakan gossip2 terkini ye :-D

But please don't hate me if I don't have your number stored in my phone. Quite a number of contacts were stored in the phone memory of my s500i. Maaf, maaf. Especially those ppl yang suka menjadikan saya buku panduan telefon, I have failed u. huhuh...

Raudha made a reference to our friendship in her blog. Nanti will come over to singapore and we'll paint the town red k. And belasah whoever it is you want me to belasah. Hahaha...Cik Dha, awak jangan pincang2 lagi ye. :-) *hugs* Kirim salam boss ye. :p

Cakap pasal boss, boss saya cuti deepavali. Yippeee!

Btw btw...

This came thru the mail yesterday. Hahaha...88 colors you all!! (Cik Farina melompat2 senang hati) This is purchased from www.coastalscents.com. Been reading rave reviews of it, and quite a number of makeup artists on Youtube go ga-ga over this pallet, so I decided, I have to have it. Hahaha...and it's rather cheap too! Even after postal charges.
Dapat je terus do swatches on my hands, sampai comot-comot. Suka! It's really pigmented, the texture's fine and I find it so easy to blend. Since today's the 1st day I am trying it on, I cannot comment on its lasting power, but I read if you use an eyeshadow primer beforehand (which I always do, hehe. Tip: If you haven't got an eyeshadow primer, vaseline would do just fine) you shouldn't have to worry about the color vanishing or creasing. But I must admit, it is a tad smaller than I expected. Nevertheless...

My Verdict: Ngehehehehe. :-D

Tadi pergi warehouse sale ni pulak. Sebab dekat dgn office, maka berlari2 kambing lah masa lunch time, berduyun-duyun ke sana. Humang aih, banyak gile orang!!! Penuh satu stadium! Nak bayar lagi lah sangat sangat panjang. Tak dpt jenguk perfume and cosmetic section sbb terlampau penuh manusia. Sigh.

Maka...

Saya pulang dgn tangan kosong. Hoyeh!

This one is on from today till 27th October, di Stadium Malawati Shah Alam.

Books Galore!

Went to the MPH Distributors Warehouse sale yesterday. If you're like me, who have a weakness for books, please do not go. Jangan. Nanti jadi gila macam nak beli semua semua semua!!! Hahaha...

The price, tak adalah murah gile b*** infiniti (the price of books I bought range from rm15to rm25), but they do have good selections. The place is huge, the salesperson were friendly and helpful, and the books weren't in a mess, which made the shopping experience more enjoyable. Pening kepala fikir nak beli yang mana satu!

Tini, lotsa quilting books. Anis, twilight books pun ada. Rasa macam nak beli semua. Which one should I get 1st? Lotsa cookbooks, kids books, selfhelp books, management, business...

To read other reviews about the sale, click here

I bought these and a few more:

The sale is on from 22nd to 27th October at Ground Floor Warehouse, Bangunan TH, MPH Warehouse, NO 5 Jalan Bersatu 13/4, Petaling Jaya [Opposite Dataran Hamodal] from 9am to 7pm.

Confirm nak pergi lagi :-D

Selasa, Oktober 21, 2008

Writer's block. Chieh.

Anyway highway...

Nothing fancy, just some simple homecooked food, and real good company. InsyaAllah, no makanan dalam tin (altho, somebody suggested that. Makanan dalam tin and mie sedap, accompanied by teh botol. hahaha...). It'll be at my PJ house, not the Shah Alam one, shud anyone get confused.

Do let me know if you could make it. A comment here would be sufficient. I still haven't got a phone to replace s500i. Most of you know where exactly my place is, for those of you who don't, drop me an email at farinajamal@gmail.com ya? :-D

See ya!

Met Ultah!

Hari ini, hari yang kau tunggu
Bertambah satu tahun, usiamu,
Bahagialah slalu

Yang kuberi, bukan jam dan cincin
Bukan seikat bunga, atau puisi,
Juga kalung hati

Maaf, bukannya pelit,
Atau nggak mau bermodal dikit
Yang ingin aku, beri padamu
Doa setulus hati ...

Smoga Tuhan, melindungi kamu
Serta tercapai semua angan dan cita citamu
Mudah mudahan diberi umur panjang
Sehat selama lamanya..

(Selamat ulang tahun yaaa...Semoga panjang umur selalu.. )

Selamat Ulang tahun .... Selamat Ulang tahun ...

Ikan paus betina

A BEACHED whale died in eastern Malaysia after swallowing a plastic bag, a rope and a bottle cap – which clogged its intestines.

Kan mak selalu pesan, jangan buang sampah merata-rata!

Banjir part 2

Berjalan keluar dari ruang kantor a little bit after 7, hujan dah berhenti. After a quick consultation with pakcik guard, they adviced me to wait for a bit, until the water level subsides. Alih-alih...hujan balik selebat2nya! Patah balik, duduk kat dlm surau. Since surau is on the ground floor, satu level dengan guardhouse, it too is not safe dari ancaman banjir. Hampir selipar Lewre RM10 saya hanyut dibawa air! Nasib baik ada orang selamatkan.

By 8.15, hujan dah renyai2 manja balik. Depan parking lot, air dah macam laut. Thank God matahari dah terbenam or else I might be tempted to whip out my sunnies dan berjemur kat tepi tu. It might take hours until I can take my car out of the parking still. So I turned, and walked to the nearest komuter station, meninggalkan birdie kesayangan dengan hati yang berat. Sob Sob.

The funny thing is, as I walked away from the flood scene, sambil meranduk air, I actually smiled. A real smile, not the one I plastered on my face these past couple of weeks. Nak gelak pun ada juga tapi takut kang the sight of a girl, walking alone at nite, laughing to herself, mungkin bakal disalah ertikan oleh sesetengah orang. Silap2 diorang panggil Ghostbusters datang. Aneh, instead of being pissed, I was seriously amused with the whole situation. There's something about walking in the rain, in the darkness of the night that made me smile. (I know, I have a sick sense of humor.) I had spring in my steps, and I was twirling my umbrella and chuckling to my self...

That is, until tiba-tiba bulu roma meremang, then saya sadar yang saya sedang berjalan di depan tanah perkuburan. Apa lagi, pecutttttttt...

(At work today, my colleagues were amazed that I actually walked alone to the station, at night. Even in daylight that place sangat dodgy okeh. Bak kata Tini, kalah pekan koboi. Haha...)

Sampai kat komuter station near my place, rescued by my brother and his friend who happened to be passing by. Not quite the knight in shining armour I wished for, but...beggars cannot be choosers. After all, the friend is cute. Hahaha.

Sampai rumah around 9.30, mandi, dan terus zZZzzzzzZZz.

Somehow, this experience reminds me of the bomb threat last year. Itu lagi scary, but I had Encik Trainer muka Johnny Depp with me in his wet white T, so who could complain?? hahaha...

I wished for a break from the my routine life, and I got it. In a way. And I am thankful for it, Alhamdulillah. :-)

Thanks for your concern, friends.

Peon, I think when my mom said 'the news', she meant laporan lalulintas kat radio. Not so glamour after all. Haha...

Banjir

The infamous Shah Alam banjir strikes again. har har har...

Stuck in the office. Water level's waist high. Nasib baik kenari parking tinggi-tinggi. Tunggu air surut. Dah 4 tahun kerja sini belum berhadapan lagi dengan situasi air tinggi begini. Selalu paling2 pun paras lutut. Tunggu kejap dah sampai buku lali...redah je lah dengan kenari. Diorg kata kalau air tinggi macam ni biasanya malam baru surut. Saya lapar ni.

Send help. Hantar boat. And food.

Maybe I should swim. I might end up somewhere exotic and the newspapers would report "Ikan paus betina terdampar di perairan kita". In their local language, of course. How cool is that?

Let's just pray I wont have to spend the night here.

Updated: tadi hujan dah berhenti. air mulai surut. alih-alih...

hujan balik.

sob...sob...sob...

Mom said it's everywhere dlm berita. CSR banjir. Keren buanget kilang nih famous! Hahaha.

Hahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahhahahahahaha...Iya!

'Malaysians more deserving of Datukship than Shah Rukh Khan'

KUALA LUMPUR: Local artistes are protesting the conferment of Datukship upon Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan.

The Malaysian Artistes Association (Seniman) chairman Datuk Mustapha Maarof said the intention to award the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka to the actor should have been referred to Finas to determine his eligibility.

“It is their right to award the title. But we hope the selection of recipients should have been properly considered first. State governments should ensure their awards are given out to only the most qualified candidates or the awards will lose their prestige,” he said in a press conference.

He also named Azean Irdawaty, M. Nasir, Kuswadinata and Ruminah Sidek as artistes deserving to receive the Datukship. He added it was an insult to Malaysians that Shah Rukh Khan did not turn up to accept the award.

Shah Rukh Khan was awarded the Datukship on Saturday during the 70th birthday of the Yang Di-Pertua of Malacca Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob. According to Mustapha, Seniman would be submitting a protest letter to the Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry at 4pm today.

Telah bergelak guling-guling sambil menyanyikan lagu Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Yatt, kalau kamu dulu kahwin dgn Shah Rukh bagai dirancang, dah jadi Datin Yatt ko sekarang!

I would love to hear what Shah Rukh has to say about his Datukship. :-D

9 ways to boost your mood

We're just humans. There are times when we just can't help feeling grouchy and blue.
I found this list of things we could do to elevate our mood we're feeling down here

I realized most of it, I have tried. Haha...guess I do have a positive way of dealing with stress! Let's see...

1. Buy some candy that you loved as a kid
(or chocolates, the ultimate comfort food. Hehehe! Altho not a huge fan of candy or chocs, wouldn't say no to a huge bar of imported cadbury!)

2. Take a shower or bath
(I even have comfort shower gel. For those stressful period in my life. I also have one for wake-me-up purpose, putting-me-to-sleep, make-me-feel-girly, make-me-feel-like-i-can-conquer-the world... :p)

3. Read a piece of fiction
(this, I do a lot. hahaha..those who have been in my room, can bear witness)

4. Make a mug of tea/coffee/hot chocolate
(Absolutely! which reminds me. Shamam...we havent had that promised ngopi session right? :-D)

5. Take a walk
(hahaha...since I have started hitting the gym again, then yeah. Exercising does help. Especially andai ada trainer muka Johnny Depp. Sigh. Andai...)

6. Write down five things you love about your life
(Done. Will only share it with the 5 people I love the most in my life, tho. Hehe. Encik Trainer muka mcm Johnny Depp tidak termasuk carta)

7. Watch an episode of your favourite TV show
(Extravaganza! LOL)

8. Get on with a chore that you’ve been putting off
(I cleaned my room a bit. A bit. Hahaha...think my car needs a good wash too. Hmmm...maybe tomorrow)

9. Laugh
(that's exactly what I've been faking the whole day!)

What do you do when you are feeling blue?

Tsk tsk tsk...

First, the good news. Spending is good.

Be frugal but don't stop spending
RAM Consulting Services group chief economist Dr Yeah Kim Leng said people could car pool, postpone buying that extra car and travel domestically.

"Don't make unnecessary purchases but don't stop spending. If everyone stops spending, it won't be good for the economy."

He said the silver lining in the global crisis was the drop in oil prices, which would trigger a price reduction in some items.

This would bring down inflation and increase consumer spending, he said.

However, sectors that could be affected by the crisis were manufacturing and transportation, which meant that the workers could expect a pay cut, he said.

"Some companies will also start cost-saving measures."

It is learnt that one company had started a three-day work schedule.

Yeah said it was unlikely that local manufacturing workers would be retrenched as foreign workers would be the first to go if manufacturing companies trimmed their exports to the US.

He warned fresh graduates not to be too fussy about jobs as companies, in view of the global crisis, may not be hiring.

Manufacturing industry financial analyst Allan Kronenburgh said he could not see Malaysia going into a recession as there was money to go around.

But some people were holding on to their cash, thus, creating an artificial shortage, he added.

"People are prudent, very careful in their spending, avoiding luxury items and preferring to spend on essentials only.

"The man in the street will depend on government subsidies for essential consumer products like rice and bread.

"On the same score, others are not making payments for goods and services rendered, so much so that it is creating a chain reaction: 'If you don't pay me, I don't pay others'.

"But this doesn't happen in the purchase of raw materials which have to be paid upfront."

Those with cash, he said, may take advantage of the situation by buying cheaper stocks on the share market.

"But then again, they are taking a gamble owing to market uncertainty.

"Brokers, however, will make money as long as there is trading with a willing buyer and a willing seller."

However, he expected the market to recover in six months, given the government's commitment to provide financial support.

Daiwa Securities chief Asia economist Presenjit Basu said Asia, particularly Malaysia, could manage itself following its experience in the 1997 global financial crisis.

"Asia is in relatively good shape. Malaysia, for instance, has a massive surplus account.

"It is one of the safest places to invest in."

Malaysian Rating Corporation chief executive officer Mohd Razlan Mohamed said everyone knew and understood the consequences of the global market downturn.

The US and European Union governments have announced rescue packages worth billions of dollars but the market has still to recover.

"This is because the money has yet to get down to consumers. Banks are jittery and reluctant to give out loans easily.

"They want to save themselves from becoming victims of the sluggish economy."

On the local market, he said that despite Malaysia having a strong banking system, it was similarly affected due to several factors like the uncertain political scenario.

Then, the not so good news. Or rather...the no-news.

Why no news on tackling crisis?

I FIND it incredible that the unprecedented global financial crisis that has governments everywhere on edge and frantically finding solutions finds little or no mention in Malaysian news of what the government is doing to tackle the imminent fallout.

Perhaps Malaysia has a secret recipe for tackling financial crises having successfully survived one over a decade ago. Or is it something else?

The global crisis that originated from the US housing and sub-prime mortgage crash spread worldwide and massacred the world’s stock markets are now entering the dangerous phase of damaging businesses and economies, and creating widespread unemployment.

The domino effect of the credit freeze worldwide is going to be evident in the developed world. But do I sense a tidak apa attitude in Malaysia and in the region?

The carnage in the financial and stock markets will inevitably affect the region yet we don’t see Asean calling for an emergency meeting to deal with the global crisis and its impact on the region.

That speaks volumes about their confidence or are they simply preoccupied with more important things?

The suggestion that Malaysia having de-coupled its economy from the US will not be badly affected is naive to say the least.

I read Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah’s statement on the urgency to deal with the crisis which is both relevant and timely and can’t help empathising with him in his frustration over the Umno top leadership transition pact.

People have to ask whether this sort of political wheeling and dealing is in the national interest and whether the country can afford to bide time while the incumbent leader works out his remaining days when the country faces a global financial and economic crisis that happens only “once in a generation.”

I scoured all the English newspapers but could hardly find any worthy mention of strong and decisive action by the politicians to face the imminent impact of the global catastrophe except the lonely voices of concerned politicians who should be asking for an emergency seating of Parliament to unite the country and form a bi partisan approach to face the crisis.

More than ever Malaysia needs a prime minster who is diligent and capable and able to inspire confidence at home and abroad to prepare the country for the worst that the global fallout will present.

But what we can’t afford is a lack of leadership in this crucial hour.

It is easy for some politicians to talk about attracting foreign investments to take advantage of the US problems but why would anyone want to invest in Malaysia when there are now even more attractive opportunities elsewhere?

The financial crisis is as much a crisis of confidence. But I don’t see the politicians doing their utmost to bolster public confidence. Instead they appear more concerned about their personal interests than the country’s national interest.

If our politicians are so sure that Malaysia will weather the economic storm and that is why they are not spending too much time worrying about the global crisis then I guess we are truly a lucky country.

Ignorance is bliss and inaction is the panacea the world has yet to discover.

Kajang.

The Naked Chef

Back when I was in Uni, whenever I was depressed, I cook. Whatever is in the fridge, akan saya lempar ke dalam kuali untuk mencipta sebuah masakan yang tiada tolong bandingnya. (chieh) My most famous creation back then, Mi Suka Hati. Just like its name suggest, mi itu dimasak dengan sesuka hatinya. I must say, I was surprised when it turned out to be shedapp. Haha...

My housemates back then were actually grateful that I was stressed out. It became a joke between us. Aku sedih, mereka senang. Gendang gendut tali kecapi, kenyang perut senanglah hati! :-D

It's been a while since I last used cooking as an avenue to vent out my frustration. Last night, the sudden urge to be banging pots and pans came again, bagai menjalar-jalar mengisi setiap ruang sendi yang...okay, not in the mood to be poetic. So I baked. Choc Chip Muffins. New recipe. It turned out enak hingga menjilat jari (if I may say. hehehe...siapa lagi nk puji!)

And I sewed too last nite. Siap 2 bag. Ngeheeee...

Kesimpulan: Bila saya frustasi, I become domestic. Go figure.

Please don't ask me what's wrong. I really don't want to talk about it. This will pass, I am sure. To you who asked, I truly appreciate the concern, I do. Luv u.

Raudha, can I have a hug?

Met Ultah, Ayman!

Once a year I get the chance
To wish you birthday cheer.
It pleases me no end to say,
I wish you another great year.

So happy birthday to you Ayman,
From the bottom of my heart.
And may your good times multiply,
Till they’re flying off the chart!

Well. Better starts saving for that. Ngehehe.

Mamma Mia! The Heart of the Musical

MAMMA MIA! The world’s No1 musical is coming to Kuala Lumpur and Malaysians will not only be stomping their feet to the music of ABBA but opening their hearts to those in need too. Star Publications (M) Bhd’s project to bring in this London West End musical for the Christmas and New Year holiday season seeks to also raise funds for The Star Foundation, the charity arm of the media group.

“Proceeds from the Charity Night of the musical will go to various needs to be identified by the Foundation,” said Datuk Steven Tan, the Foundation’s Chairman and Deputy Chairman of Star Publications. “This is in line with the Foundation’s mission to help various existing charities continue their good work by channelling the funds that we can raise via such high-profile events.”

Star Foundation will largely focus on its work in education, health and general welfare. Over the years, Star Publications has organised numerous highly successful musical stage shows. Tan cites the more recent success of the musical extravaganza Mystical Steppes: Along the Silk Road organised by The Star in January 2007 which raised a total of RM996,718.50 for the Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor, Hospis Malaysia and the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation Malaysia. Wild Zebra, another highly successful event held in 2005, raised RM730,000 and the proceeds were channelled to Shelter Home for Children, the Salvation Army, Tasputra Perkim, Asrama Darul Falah of Perkim, Bethany Home and Hospital Kuala Lumpur’s Paediatric Institute.

Dances of the Dynasties in 2004 raised RM1mil for the Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia and another RM250,000 each for Hospis Malaysia and the Daybreak Association. The Star has been involved in pioneering Broadway and West End musicals to Malaysia since the 1980s as well as staging cultural shows from different countries including China.

“We are always very happy and thankful that we can count on the generosity of Malaysians whenever we organise such events,” said Tan. Mamma Mia! also comes at an opportune time when the nation is going through changes following the 12th general election. “Malaysians have always shown that they will look out for one another in a caring nature. Political, ethnic, religious and cultural differences always take a back seat when we are united in the common good for all Malaysians.

“The heart of charity beats in every Malaysian and I am confident that they will make Mamma Mia! a sold-out event.”

Final arrangements for the hugely successful musical, based on ABBA’s hit songs from the 70s and 80s, are being made by The Star. ABBA’s hit songs include Honey, Honey; Money, Money, Money; Thank You for the Music; I Have a Dream; Super Trouper; Dancing Queen; Voulex-Vous; Winner Takes It All and, of course, Mamma Mia.

Mamma Mia! from London West End will be performed at Istana Budaya Kuala Lumpur from Dec 17 to Jan 1. The staged musical has been seen by over 30 million people worldwide and an estimated 17,000 people see the show daily around the world in major cities. This does not include the cinema version currently showing in various parts of the world including Malaysia.

Watch out for more details in The Star.

I seldom make intelligent postings, you might have noticed. But I can't help sharing this article with you (that is, if you care to read it).

PANIC STATIONS
Asian marts spooked as crisis widens in Europe

The initial reaction to the European effort however failed to comfort financial markets. Investors from Tokyo to London slashed risk from portfolios and positioned for a further tightening of credit and bank lending and the rising risk of a serious global economic recession.

Despite concerted efforts to stem the crisis, investors were clearly seeking more concrete steps from authorities, perhaps in the form of coordinated action from next weekend's meeting of the Group of Seven industrial nations.

Germany offered blanket deposit guarantees and other European countries followed suit.

In a sign that the crisis is biting deeper in Asia, South Korea said it wanted to hold talks with China and Japan.

The Bank of Japan offered to lend one trillion yen (RM34 billion) against pooled collateral in an auction to inject liquidity into the market. South Korea's finance minister said the country would dip into its foreign exchange reserves, the world's sixth-largest, to help with loans.

Across Asia, all markets were also in the red. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index fell to its lowest level in 41/2 years, sinking 4.25 per cent to 10,473.09. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index slid five per cent to 16,803.76.The KL Composite Index shed 19.86 points to close at 996.84.

Markets in mainland China, Australia, South Korea, India, Singapore and Thailand also fell sharply. Indonesia's key index plummeted 10 per cent, its biggest one-day drop ever.

"Everyone is losing confidence," said Mark Tan, who helps manage about US$20 billion of equities and bonds at UOB Asset Management in Singapore.

"The problem now is that the lack of foreign confidence could affect the Asian consumer, which would lead to a bigger slowdown in Asia than expected."

"This credit crunch looks like it's not going away any time soon," said Alex Tang, head of research at brokerage Core Pacific-Yamaichi in Hong Kong.

"Apart from a credit crunch in Europe, investors are quite concerned about the worsening outlook on the US economy."

Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme said on Sunday that France's BNP Paribas had committed to taking a 75-per cent stake in troubled European bank Fortis. .

Britain's finance minister Alistair Darling said he was ready to take "pretty big steps that we wouldn't take in ordinary times" to help the country weather the credit crisis.

The outlook for the US economy darkened after figures released on Friday showed that 159,000 jobs in the US were lost last month, the fastest pace in more than five years.

Such concerns overshadowed any investor optimism over the US congressional approval on Friday of a massive government bailout plan to buy distressed mortgages and securities backed by mortgages.

Investors questioned how long it would take for the package to unfreeze credit markets, restore bank lending and generally shore up the US economy.

Oil prices tumbled on speculation that slower global growth will cut crude demand. Light, sweet crude for November delivery was down US$3.23 to US$90.65 a barrel in New York.

That the financial crisis in the US had truly crossed the Atlantic was confirmed on Sunday when Germany pledge to guarantee private deposit accounts, a move which spurred similar action by Austria and Denmark. Ireland issued the first such guarantee last week, prompting criticism of a fragmented European Union response.

Sweden became the latest country to act, with expanded bank deposit guarantees and the central bank raising the amount of loans offered to banks.

European banks have been hit hard by the fallout from the collapse of the US housing market collapsed and bad mortgage debts.

The banking upheaval that began on Wall Street has effectively shut down interbank and other loan markets, pushing industrialised countries closer to recession.

The various deposit guarantee moves were putting intense pressure on countries such as Britain, which face the prospect of a drain in deposits from their banks.

Britain's government promised yesterday said it would not leave ordinary savers unprotected but said it had no plans to respond immediately to Germany's move.

German Finance Minister Peer Steinbrueck said Berlin was working on a new plan to protect the entire German bank sector, not just individual institutions that came under stress.

He made clear this would not be a Europe-wide solution that would mirror the US$700 billion rescue package agreed in the United States.

Finance ministers from the euro zone countries were meeting in Luxembourg yesterday to discuss future moves.

In the banking industry, France's BNP Paribas scooped up the assets of Fortis in Belgium and Luxembourg for E14.5 billion to stem a cash drain on Fortis and Dexia.

Citigroup Inc and rival Wells Fargo & Co are under pressure to compromise over their competing bids for hobbled US bank Wachovia Corp. None of the moves were reassuring investors yesterday, however. -- Agencies

If the above article makes no sense to you, it basically means, worldwide economic downturn, inflationary period. More so in Malaysia, as we're faced with not only the World Economic Crisis, the political scene is not looking all nice and sunny too. I hope they would buck up, stop bickering, and just focus on the economy and the nation. Cukup-cukuplah tu merepek!

Meanwhile, be careful of how you spend your money, save some for the rainy days, coz it looks like those days are looming nearer. Of course this serves as a reminder to my own self as well. Hehe.
Jalan terus...

Winner Takes It All

Watched 'Mamma Mia! The Movie' last week. My verdict? Love it!!! Meryl Streep can really sing, and she looked great! Pierce Brosnan adalah kachak sangat juga but I can't say much about his voice. I love this movie so much, I can watch it again dan again sambil menggoyang pinggul dan mengacu jempol ke udara. Yeah, I am a Dancing Queen!

I especially love the part when Meryl sings this song, her emotion was really heartfelt. Rasa macam nak nangis mengenang kisah cinta duka lara zaman dulukala (not!)

"The Winner Takes It All"

I don't wanna talk
About the things we've gone through
Though it's hurting me
Now it's history
I've played all my cards
And that's what you've done too
Nothing more to say
No more ace to play

The winner takes it all
The loser standing small
Beside the victory
That's her destiny

I was in your arms
Thinking I belonged there
I figured it made sense
Building me a fence
Building me a home
Thinking I'd be strong there
But I was a fool
Playing by the rules

The gods may throw a dice
Their minds as cold as ice
And someone way down here
Loses someone dear
The winner takes it all
The loser has to fall
It's simple and it's plain
Why should I complain.

But tell me does she kiss
Like I used to kiss you?
Does it feel the same
When she calls your name?
Somewhere deep inside
You must know I miss you
But what can I say
Rules must be obeyed

The judges will decide
The likes of me abide
Spectators of the show
Always staying low
The game is on again
A lover or a friend
A big thing or a small
The winner takes it all

I don't wanna talk
If it makes you feel sad
And I understand
You've come to shake my hand
I apologize
If it makes you feel bad
Seeing me so tense
No self-confidence
But you see
The winner takes it all
The winner takes it all...

Raya holidays is coming to an end. Sob sob...
Esok balik kerja. Everyone will be dragging their feet after this long holidays, I am sure. Before raya, everyone complaints about tak boleh nak buat kerja, sebab dah start mood raya. Besok kang, tak boleh nak kerja sebab still dalam mood raya, too much lemang and rendang dah masuk dalam sistem penghadaman.
Abis tu, bila boleh kerja? Esok2 kang dah mood Deepavali pulak!

This year is the 1st year that I could remember us having a theme color for Raya. Usually konsepnya adalah "lu fikirlah sendiri!". This year it's blue...

I wouldn't say, this year's Raya celebration went without a glitch. The first day of Syawal, something happened that almost ruined my Raya. Since I fully intend to enjoy my Raya holidays, the matter was pushed back di sudut minda yang terdalam until the time comes to rethink about how to handle it. Now, malas nak layan.

Raya would be incomplete without this. Food, glorious food!

Ouh, Mak found my blog. Hi Mak!

Berkumpul sanak saudara

A new boyband, "The Traffic Light"

And...

Saya masih dapat duit raya! Hahahhaa...happiness!

Ia telah membuat saya bertindak diluar kawalan akal sehat bila mana saya telah beraksi seperti Sabariah dalam filem Ibu Mertuaku (remember the scene where she practically licked the radio? Yeah, that one!). TV rumah saya harus dinyahkumankan. :-D hahaha...

Oke people, Selamat Hari Raya, jemput datang ke rumah!
