Ada apa dengan Perth? - Part 1

Day 1 - 22nd March 2009

The 4 of us, Mak, Mak Tam (Mak's elder sister), my youngest sister Dila and yours truly flew AirAsia X yang telah mencharter (maaf, merosak bahasa) pesawat Air Mauritius. Surprise, surprise...dapat food, you all! Hahaha, ramai orang yang terus refuse the food, but when the cabin crews assured us makan free, semua pun ambil lah. Got choices of Nasi Lemak Ayam Kari or BBQ Chicken, I chose the latter.

Sampai Perth pukul 5.30 pagi, ambil kereta sewa yang dah siap-siap booking with Hertz, then pusing2 Perth to familiarize ourselves with the roads. Dan masa ni lah kejadian luar dugaan berlaku. Jeng jeng jeng...(bajet macam buat entri Selangkah Ke Alam Misteri)

Posing bersama Toyota Yaris andalan selama di Perth. I love lah this car!

Made a wrong turn on our way to just check out our hotel, since it was too early to check in anyway. End up in the middle of the city. Nampak a malay girl waiting for bus, tapi nampak side profile je. Happily tunjuk to Mom, "Mak, mak...ada budak melayu!" Sekalo dia pusing, masya Allah, kawan aku! Rai! Terus buka tingkap, jerit nama dia. Jalan besar, so tak dapat nak stop. Sempat lambai2 je.

FYI, I told Rai about me coming to Perth. But since she was going back to Malaysia the same day I arrived, we thought, oh well, jumpa kat KL lah. Tapi obviously, Allah has other plans for us. It was divine intervention ok, who are we to question it. So she texted me and we arranged to meet up later for lunch in Fremantle.
Wikipedia: Fremantle is a port city in Western Australia, located 19 kilometres (12 mi) southwest of Perth, the state capital, at the mouth of the Swan River on Australia's western coast. It was the first settlement of the Swan River colonists in 1829. It was declared a city in 1929, and has a population of approximately 26,000. The city is named after Captain Charles Fremantle, the English naval officer who had pronounced possession of Western Australia and who established a camp at the site. The city contains well-preserved 19th-century buildings and other heritage features. The Western Australian vernacular diminutive for Fremantle is "Freo".
Met Rai in Fremantle Market at noon, perut dah berdangdut so we head all to Kailis to eat Fish and Chips and it was oh so heavenly!

Kailis, Voted the Best Fish & Chips

Silalah salivate beramai-ramai.

Then we split into 2 groups, the aunties2 and lil sister wanna go to Myer, a departmental store, I wanted to explore the sights with Rai.

Cik Rai

She took me to the place she worked during her stay in Perth, a sounvenir shop in E-shed Market. This market is only opened from Friday to Sunday every week.

Me: Rai, boss ko orang mana?
Rai: Jakarta.

Hahaha...and I think most Indonesian people coming to Perth will all come and buy souvenirs here, serius masuk-masuk je bunyi dah macam Mangga Dua! I felt at home immidiately!

Beli souvenirs. Sebelum kamu geleng-geleng dan bilang, "Orang Kayaaaa~~~~", only 1 plastic bag is mine. The rest are Rai's.
Restoren di belakang, specializes in Indonesian cuisine

As we walked thru the maze of streets in Fremantle, Rai took me inside an Adultshop. Gasp! Saya jadi jakun siot disitu. I think Rai even took a photo of me in that shop, not that I ever intend to have it published! *cultural shock*

Went to a kebab shop, the owner knows Rai and since it's her last day in Perth, he was so kind to belanja us kebab. Semoga dimurahkan rezeki kamu, Uncle! Dan Uncle, kebab kamu the bomb!! (macam lah dia baca)
Hari dah petang, sent Rai home since was going home for good later that nite, then off to our cozy apartment in Northbridge. Brownelea Apartment, managed by a kind lady named Belinda. (nak tengok gambar, sila google.)
Mom and Mak Tam cooked, then we settled for the day. Tomorrow, will be another looooooooooong day.
