Public Enemies

Thanks to Soraya's friend who can't make it in the last minute, I got tic to watch this last nite. Haha...saya pasrah dijadikan galang ganti, it was flattering to know Soraya thinks highly about my ability to arrive on time. Think that ability has something to do with accountants being anally obsessive about time? Hmmm.

I have been wanting to watch this for sometime. More so since Cu wrote about how hot Abang Jonny looks in this movie. And that, is so true. Abang Jonny membuatkan saya uring-uringan sendiri menonton filem ini, sambil Umie dan Bai disebelah berkali-kali menyebutkan, sabar Farina, sabar. Ceh, teringat cerita pendek TV pendidikan zaman kanak-kanak yang monyet makan cili. Sabar Monyet, sabar. (Dem, monyet lagi.)

having said that, I must say, I was rather dissapointed with the movie. Maybe it's just me since the others were visibly crying at the end of it, but I was expecting a more moving potrayal of Johnny Dillinger. After all, he's not the Public Enemy #1 for nothing, right? Oh don't get me wrong, Abang Jonny Depp was amazing with his acting, maybe I wanted to see some different sides of the Public Enemy #1 to be able to feel him.

And Christian Bale's potrayal as Agent Melvin Purvis, agak meloyakan in the 'aku tau aku bagus aku boleh tangkap penjenayah' kinda smug. But he looks hot doing that so I forgive him.

Public Enemies” is an action packed thriller starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann who tells the true story of legendary bank robber John Dillinger (Depp). During the Depression-era Dillinger is the charismatic bank robber whose sharp quick hold ups made him the number one target of Melvin Purvis (Bale).

The unstoppable Dillinger could escape from anything. No cop could restrain him and no prison was unbreakable. Dillinger’s charm made him captivating to almost everyone, especially to his new love; girlfriend Billie Frechette (Marion Cotillard).
Continuing his adventures with his gang, Dillinger eventually became America’s first Public Enemy Number One and Purvis was sent in to head up the squad in the search. Purvis and his squad were made to look incompetent as Dillinger and his gang outwitted Purvis’ men in wild chases and shootouts. Eventually the chase has to come to an end and as they say the good guy always wins.

However, for the ability to make me tidur malam tak lena mimpi yang bukan-bukan, saya beri 3.5 bintang out of 5!
