Kisah Pertualangan ke Bromo (Part 7 - FINAL!)

Next stop...House of Sampoerna.

Situated in "old Surabaya"‚ this stately Dutch colonial-style compound was built in 1862 and is now a preserved historical site. Cited as the top tourist destination in Surabaya, the complex offers a museum, an art gallery, a cafe as well as souvenir shops. It also provides a City Sightseeing bus for free with a tour guide speaking English. Check out the timing for the museum's main attraction: hundreds of girls hand-rolling Indonesia's most prestigious cigarette, Dji Sam Soe, using traditional equipment. They do it at an unbelievable speed.

2 BEAUTIFUL ladies hard at work.
They have this replica of the stalls you can find around Indonesia, selling cigarettes. We took turns berlakon jd penjual rokok kretek. With the kipas and all, I think we managed to look like a cross between penjual rokok and mak ayam plus tukang bakar sate.

Ahhhh...the Golden Throne!

Sayangnya, we came too late to catch those cigarette rolling girls in action. Apparently their workshift ends at 3pm, we were just like, 15 minutes late. Even if we had managed to see them, we weren't supposed to take any photos. However, I'm sharing this pic which was taken during my previous visit there. (Perhatian: gambar ini diambil secara curi)

These ladies, worked at an incredible speed! Laju gila b**i infiniti!!! I kept on asking my travel companion, ini bener gak sih? Bukan mesin kan? Hahahaha...Rasa macam tengok movie in fast forward mode!

We're born to shop!

If you think we're done shopping, memang salah besar lah! Next, we head to Jl Genteng Besar, where the whole street is lined with kedai cemilan dan oleh-oleh.

Hamik kau. 10 set sambal bu rudy sebagai oleh-oleh untuk kawan2. Sukses membuat semua yang merasa langsung kecanduan. Hahaha...sambal ni memang terbayek, wook! All of us left with a huge box of oleh-oleh each! *happiness*

Later, we met up with my colleague and her sister in Tunjungan Plaza or TP, the largest and most complete shopping center in Surabaya.

When I invited my colleague, Cik Lena, to join us for dinner, I told her on the phone, "Kita jumpa kat Tunjungan Plaza. Lepas tu kita pergi dinner Rawon Setan." Then her sister asked her, "kita nak gi mana nih?" Cik Lena tak sengaja jawab,"Junjungan Setan" Hahahahahahha...gelak guling-guling!!!

Menurut kata Pak Lukito, Rawon Setan ni, waktu mula dulu, malam2 baru bukak. Pukul 2,3 pagi tu lah yang paling penuh gerai dia. Sebab buka at such ungodly hours, maka diberi julukan "Rawon Setan"

*mata berpinar-pinar*

Kedai makan legendary, kena taruk gambar-gambar orang legendary juga kat dinding. Hahaha...check it out, ada Giring Nidji!

Malam masih muda, kawan. Dah makan dinner, time for dessert. Another legendary makan place, Zangrandi Ice Cream! Kata Pak Lukito, zaman dulu2 kalau si cowok gak ngajak cewek kencan di Zangrandi, jangan harap yang cewek mau jadian. Hahahaha.

Otw for icecream, melewati hotel legendaris ini, Hotel Majapahit. The hotel was founded in 1910 as Hotel Oranje by Lucas Martin Sarkies. During the Japanese occupation of Indonesia the hotel name was changed to Yamato Hotel. The hotel was the site of the famous "Insiden Hotel Yamato" (in English "Hotel Yamato incident") in which young Indonesian revolutionaries tore the blue part of the Dutch flag flown in the hotel to change it to the Indonesian flag in the lead up to the Battle of Surabaya.

Topping up calories to gear up for our next stop...Gang Dolly!

Gang Dolly is actually, a red-light district. And they do it rather openly here, where the workers sit in a room with huge glass walls, much like window displays. Some says, this red-light is the biggest in South East Asia, even bigger than Patpong in Bangkok and Geylang in Singapore.

Pak Lukito said, he won't tell his male customers about Gang Dolly. Kalau perempuan tak apa! Mosok jeruk makan jeruk, gitu. Heheheheh... you haven't truly been to Surabaya if you haven't been to Gang Dolly, u ols

I refuse to put any other photos of the place except for this, sat lagi banyak la pulak visitor pelik-pelik ke blog ni. But you can google it tho. Hehehe...

And seriously, memang lawaaaaa the sex workers that we saw! We cheekily asked Pak Lukito, where can we find the male ones? He said, kalau cowok mah, gak boleh kerja gituan, malah ditangkap. Gak ijinkan. Whaaaat?? Ini tidak adil!!! (eh eh)

Malam terakhir di Surabaya, kami menginap di Hotel Ibis. Kata Pak Lukito, "tinggalnya di ibLis, makannya rawon setan!" Hahahaha. Jahat bebenor bunyinya! Malam pun dah larut, we head back to hotel after dropping Cik Lena and her sister at their hotel, Hotel Sahid Surabaya. He's awesome! Anyone going to Surabaya, I would seriously recommend him to be your guide. 10 Markah!

Day 4
Hari terakhir di Surabaya. Sebab waktu dah suntuk, kami berpisah untuk melakukan aktiviti masing-masing. Well actually, Shamam je jalan sorang2 coz she wanted to watch "Dalam Mihrab Cinta" in the cinema. Soraya, Lea and I decided to go (no surprise here) Shopping! Hahaha...excited sangat padahal pergi Carrefour je. Quite recently Shamam joked, gara-gara dah selalu sangat ke Indonesia, bukan takat beli oleh-oleh je, siap beli barang dapur! Hahaha...I kid you not, we bought sardin, corned beef, tepung cekodok and even kicap there!

It was then we decided, there's no way, we can all fit in a taxi with all our luggages on tow. Called Pak Lukito up, arranged for airport transfer. Thank God we did, coz check out barang bawaan kami setelah 4 hari ke Surabaya:

The porters at the airport later asked me, berapa hari di Surabaya, mbak? When I told him 4 days, he was soooo shocked! "Busyet! 4 hari bawaannya kayak 4 tahun!!" Hahahahaha...aptly said!

Our final stop before heading to the airport:

Saya sukaaaaaaaa bebek goreng!!!

Tak sempat makan di sini, tapau makan di bandara. Soraya and Lea tak makan bebek, so they got ayam. Me? I bought 7 porsi bebek utk dibawa pulang! TUJUH!!!

Udah tiba di airport! Alas, our final goodbye with our cool pak supir. Makasih Pak Lukito! Jangan kapok yaaaa!!

Our final meal in Surabaya. Hahahah...dah macam pelarian je makan atas bench airport. But the food was soooo good, perut pun dah lapar, apa nak kisah orang keliling pandang-pandang!

We'll be back, Surabaya

Kisah Pertualangan ke Bromo (Part 6)

Finally!!!

Ini adalah kisah sambungan dari entry terakhir saya tentang Bromo which was like, a month ago!

On the way back from Tretes to Surabaya, kami singgah tengok Lumpur Lapindo. Sebenarnya nak singgah otw ke Bromo, tapi tengok Shamam dan Lea tengah lena beradu time tu, malas nak ganggu.

What is Lumpur Lapindo?

The Sidoarjo mud flow or Lapindo mud, also informally abbreviated as Lusi, a contraction of Lumpur Sidoarjo (lumpur is the Indonesian word for mud), is a mud volcano in the subdistrict of Porong, Sidoarjo in East Java, Indonesia that has been ongoing since May 2006. The biggest mud volcano in the world was created by the blowout of a natural gas well drilled by PT Lapindo Brantas, although company officials contend that it was caused by a distant earthquake.

At its peak Lusi was spewing up to 180,000 m³ of mud per day, but it still averages approximately 30,000 m³ (1 million cubic feet) of mud per day. It is expected that the flow will continue for the next 25 to 30 years.Although the Sidoarjo mud flow has been contained by levees since November 2008, resultant flooding regularly disrupts local highways and villages. Further breakouts of mud are still possible.

Kalau dulu, hanya ada 1 pusat semburan, now got 2! Imagine, 16 desa dah tenggelam dibawah 'tasik' lumpur ni, and it's still growing! Bukan sahaja kawasan perumahan, daerah ini juga merupakan kawasan perindustrian, and so banyaklah kilang-kilang yang ditenggelami lumpur menyebabkan ramai juga yang hilang mata pencarian. Right now they estimate kedalaman lumpur disini dah mencapai kedalaman 10m!

When we first saw tempat semburan lumpur ni masa nak naik Bromo, I just said to Lea, "tu" sambil menunjuk ke arah semburan itu, Minah ni terpisat2 la bangun, berdecak kagum sebab dia ingatkan tu letusan Bromo. hahahha...alahai, gila anti-klimaks kot!

Aksi YB melawat kawasan

They've tried to find a use for the mud but to no avail. Takleh guna untuk bina rumah, bercucuk tanam ke...not even as beauty mud mask! Jadi makin membuak-buaklah lumpur tu tanpa bisa ditahan lagi.

Many people lost their jobs and houses gara2 bencana alam ini. Some of them cari duit dengan entertain tourist yang datang nak tengok Lumpur Lapindo ni. Ada yg jualan makanan, ada yg jual vcd tentang rentetan peristiwa trageri ni, ada yg sekadar jaga parking, apa saja demi sesuap nasi. Lapindo has been instructed to pay compensation to the people affected by this tragedy, yet not all can produce proof of ownership of land or house in that area, in other words, rumah setinggan. Jadi merekalah masyarakat yang paling terjejas, dah la rumah pun hilang, kilang tempat mereka bekerja pun tenggelam. *sad*

Check out the benteng. Tinggi gila, and the area is HUGE! Luas sangat sangat.

Tak tahu kenapa we decided to buat aksi cover album kumpulan rock kangkang.

I have to say this, Surabaya is really, really hot! Bak kata Soraya, you can feel your skin sizzle! After 2 days berada dalam suasana dingin di Bromo dan Tretes, the heat was quite a shock to us. Ini lah sebab kami dalam dilema waktu packing for this trip.

Altho, it looks that way, I know. :p

Sumpah tak tahan tengok aksi Soraya laksana memakai dhoti. Hahahhaa...

By this time, perut dah berkeroncong minta diisi. Kami pun meminta Pak Lukito membawa kami ke tempat iga (ribs) penyet yang tersohor, Iga Penyet Leko!

Rupanya they have a few cawangan, and the one we went to on Jl. Manyar Kertoarjo (hope I got this right) is new. Gambar dan tandatangan artis2 terkenal Indonesia menghiasi dinding.

Wajah-wajah kelaparan

Mangsa Nafsu Rakus Manusia

Wajah Kepuasan

Gendang gendut tali kecapi, perut dah gendut, nak kata apa lagi! But seriously, iga penyet kat sini memang sedappppppppp! (meleleh air liur mengenangkannya kembali) If you're ever in Surabaya, make sure to make your way here.

Next entry, Sempoerna House, Rawon Setan, Zangrandi ice cream dan... *jeng jeng jeng!!* Gasp!! Ada apa dengan Gang Doli??!

to be continued...

Bait pertama

Saya benci Eross!

Tapi iya, saya benci dia!

This is 'Bait Pertama', taken from their latest album, "Berlayar"

di sini ku menggenggam takdir di tanganku
aku coba menahan tak menangisimu
di bait pertama
di bait pertama

sekuat kaki ini mencoba berlari
tetapi hati ini menuntunnya kembali
ke bait pertama
ke bait pertama

berjalan hidupku tanpamu
hidupku tanpamu di bait pertama

berjalan hidupku tanpamu, hidupku tanpamu

Simple. Tapi membuat perasaan saya, macam naik kereta laksana Evolusi KL Drift 2 then langgar dinding pada kelajuan Impak Maksima.

Hancur, pedih!

nota kecil: tolong ya, jangan ada lagi yang bertanya, "eh sheilaon7 buat apa eh skrg? dah berkubur eh? tak keluar album baru pun?"Yang sebenarnya korang tu yang tak apdet, dodol.
