My Jakarta (Updated)

Bunderan HI

Just last week, a friend, an Indonesian, asked me, what do I like about Jakarta? Then 2 days later, spoke to my cousin who said "taubat nak pergi Jakarta! Dengan traffic jam nya, dengan pollution nya, eiii...cukup lah sekali!"

Dan saya, who have been to Jakarta for more times than I care to share, belum serik dan belum puas lagi ke situ. For me personally, I prefer Jakarta than Bandung, dan saya tahu ramai yang bingung. Kenapa??

So I'd like to share 2 perkara yang saya suka tentang Jakarta! :-D

1. The shopping. Setiap kali memikirkan Jakarta, pasti sudah terbayang-bayang Pasar Tanah Abang, the BIGGEST textile market in Southeast Asia!

Pasar Tanah Abang

Kalau tak silap, Pasar Tanah Abang terbahagi kepada beberapa bahagian. Ada Metro Tanah Abang yang menjual baju-baju secara borong pada harga yang muraaaah, (if you come to Metro, try not to come on Monday. Isnin hari stok baru masuk dan juga hari stok dikirim kepada pelanggan mereka di seluruh pelusuk Indonesia, so there'll be lots of activities going on, huge HUGE parcels going in and out and all over the place, it's really hard to walk let alone see what might interest you), Jembatan Tanah Abang, Blok A dan B of Pasar Tanah Abang. Biasanya kalau supir taksi tanya, Tanah Abang di mana? Bilang aja Blok A, he'll know where to take you.

Nahh, masalahnya begitu sampai, you wouldn't know where to go. Kalau masa tak cukup, saya sikat tingkat 5 je), even 1 floor that houses a foodcourt, TENABANG, and they have sooooo many warung to choose from, it'll make your head spin!

Kenapa saya lebih suka Pasar Tanah Abang compared to Pasar Baru di Bandung? Well. Lima, although kawasan diluar Pasar Tanah Abang ni memang macet cet cet, once you get inside, it's actually quite pleasant and not congested. Got aircond some more!

The easiest way for me to get here, is by ojek. What is ojek, I know you might ask. It's basically a motorcycle taxi, the best way to beat the famous Jakarta traffic.

Tukang Ojek

You usually need to haggle on the price 1st before you hop on the bike. Sekarang dah ada khidmat Tukang Ojek Professional, http://www.go-jek.com/eng/. Tinggal di telefon, GO-JEK calculates all fares by distance and is agreed upon upfront.

Itu kalau pergi. Time pulang, nak balik dengan barang berbondong-bondong tu, takkan nak naik ojek? Nah...saya naik bajaj! (read: Ba-jai)

Before you say, "skerinya naik bajaj!", imagine 5 adults sitting together at the back of that thing. Boleh bayangkan? Nah.

2. The food. Glorious, magnificent food. Bebek goreng, batagor, iga penyet, ketoprak, bakso, mie ayam, sate kambing, nasi padang, nasi gila, tahu gejrot, siomay...ho mai ho maiii...the list goes on and on and on! The last time I was there, my boyfriend and I went to this street foodcourt in Menteng, and I ordered soooo many things sampai dia tercengang. Habis pulak tu, licin licau!

ok. jadi lapar nih!

Iga Penyet & Iga Goreng Tepung...aku kangennnnn kalian!! (FYI, Iga=ribs)

Iya, saya suka shopping dan saya doyan makan. Don't judge me please :p

Additional info:

A lot of people selalu tanya, where to stay in Jakarta?? Just like KL, it could be hard to find hotel yang mesra poket, berlokasi baik dan kondisinya memuaskan (Read: not a whorehouse)

Jadi disini saya list out some of my favorite hotels, semoga membantu:

1. Studio One Residence, Jalan Talang Betutu

Walking distance from Grand Indonesia Mall, altho I have never really done it. Biasanya I would just walk down the road about 100m from the hotel, ada Pos Ojek. Hahaha...naik ojek je, malas nak jalan kaki weh! At Rp300rb per nite (approximately RM110), saya suka hotel ini sebab bersih, saiznya lumayan, katilnya selesa, tight security (you get chip-embedded cardkey, so u can only go to the floor where your room is) dan dekat ke Tanah Abang juga. Naik ojek ke Tanah Abang, rp10rb saja. What I dont like about this place pulak, it's located in a residential area, tak ada tempat makan nearby the place. The breakfast provided is basically coffee and bread with butter. And altho dekat nak mati dengan GrandIndonesia, kalau nak jalan kaki balik hotel malam2 hari agak skeri juga.

Stayed here a couple of time, boleh book online here http://www.studio-one.co.id/

2. Formule 1, Menteng

It's heaven if you are a foody like me!!! At around 5pm, right smack sebelah hotel ni gerai-gerai makanan mula dibuka sampai pagi pagi buta. Time tu rasa macam semuaaaa pun nak makan! I ordered siomay, sate padang with nasi impit, sate kambing with rice, tahu gejrot, teh botol, es alpukat...yumm!

Eh salah, harusnya cerita tentang hotel. I was informed that this building used to be a mall, Menteng Plaza. Bila gulung tikar, tukar jadi hotel pulak. Hehehe...satu malam di hotel tu, cost me Rp355rb (about rm130). What I do like about the hotel is the location. Dekat nak kemana-mana! Senang nak cari makan (ini penting wooo!). Bilik nya bersih, dan selesa. Cuma kecil sikit dari Studio One Residence. And the room I stayed in, katilnya ada sedikit goyang. Not far away ada Dunkin Donuts.

Nak book online, boleh di sini www.hotelformule1.com

3. Take's Mansion, Jl. Kebon Sireh

Probably one of Jakarta's best kept secret hehehe never heard of the place before until I came across it in www.booking.com. Great location, I actually walked from the hotel to Bunderan HI di waktu matahari tegak atas kepala. Hahaha...when I check my pedometer, jaraknya lebih kurang 3km. Gigih! Tapi kalau naik taksi pun senang je.

Rooms for as low as Rp240rb (about rm90), I stayed in a Studio room yang lengkap dengan kitchen bagai! And it costs me rp290rb (dalam rm105) per nite.

Saya suka hotel ini sebab, murah, dekat ke Tanah Abang (naik bajaj dlm rp10rb), dekat nak kemana-mana, the room was HUGE, senang cari makan, it's facing a main street jadi tak dodgy, breakfastnya enak, ada swimming pool sum more altho I didnt get a chance to use it. What I dont like about it is, the room wasn't as clean as I hope it would be.

Not sure about the rates now tho, I took a look at their website and it seems to have been revamped, with new rates too. Nevertheless, it's still worth to check out www.takesmansion.com

yah, semoga bermanfaat! :-D

Cinta Harus Memiliki

My sister whatsapped me the other day, just to say she bought AZ's latest album. Entah kenapa, I had an initial scepticism towards the album. I mean, I thought the previous one was awesome!! So to beat that...he would have to work extra extra extra hard for this album.

Didn't wanna rush out and get a copy for myself, so I borrowed hers for a test drive hehehe. 1st impression, hmmm...so-so. It does sound just like an extension of the previous album. Nothing mind blowing. hTapi demi kerana dia AZ si kekasih lama, saya minta izin pinjam cd ni sehari lagi. Bagi dengar 2-3 round, baru adil nak beri pendapat yang saksama. hahaha...(padahal malas nak beli sendiri punya :p)
Mind you, I wasn't crazy about his first single "Ku Berjanji Kerna Cinta", mainly because I had a very high expectation on him. 1st single from previous album, "Lelaki Ini" itu kan bikin orang kejang-kejang otot, air liur meleleh, mata melotot, lutut lemah, meleleh meleh macam aiskrim di tengah panas mentari. 'Ku berjanji kerna cinta' for me was just...nice.

However, after a few more spin on my cd player, saya mulai menyukai album ini. I suppose, I wasn't in the right mood when I heard it the first time around. The perfect time to hear this, is when u r driving alone, feeling either deeply in love or galau, sambil layan jiwang. PERFECT.

Not surprising, my fave song is Track 8, Cinta Harus Memiliki, composed by Numata. Saya memang suka lagu2 ciptaan adik beradik dari Indonesia ni dari dulu. Dengar cerita this will be AZ's next single, can't wait!

So worth ke tidak nak beli? Worth it! Even if the only thing you want to do with it is to hold the cd cover and look at AZ's flawless face until you go to sleep. Tengok lah gambar kat atas tu, if I could look half as good when I'm 41, saya akan sujud penuh kesyukuran! Oh yeah, and the songs are good too. :-D

nota: AZ, my offer still stands. Call me! #ecewaaaah.

The day I became Peneroka Felda

Hari Malaysia 16 September baru-baru ini, saya masuk Felda Jengka. To me, I find it apt, sebab dari kecil lagi asyik dengar tentang Tanah Rancangan Felda Jengka yang merupakan buah idea Perdana Menteri Malaysia ke2,tapi tak pernah jejak kaki ke situ.

Taken from Wikipedia;

I have been asked, a few times, "Ada hotel ke kat Jengka??" Well.

Felda Residence Tekam

We stayed in one of these cute chalets, which is basically a refurbished rumah peneroka Felda. Sorry saya lupa ambil gambar didalam, lengkap basic amenities and clean, saya suka. My chalet ada 3 single bed. Not sure about the actual rate sebab client saya staff Felda, jadi saya pun menumpang nasib dpt staff price ngehehehe.

And this, ladies and gentleman, is the bride. Puan Puteri Raifana.

We (my mom, my sister and I) were at the chalet just chilling when my sister who follows Yuna on Twitter said, "Eh Kak Ngah, ni bukan ke yang awak mekapkan tadi?"

Yuna tweeted this pic:

Her tweet: "@yunamusic: My newly wed cousin posing at the pelamin for me before i leave to KL. http://yfrog.com/nzg14bkj"

And Yuna loved my makeup! She said so herself! Look!

RT @yunamusic: @fitrahjamal she did an amazing job!;)

(to my sister who told Yuna her sister (read: ME) did her cousin's makeup) And Puteri said the first thing Yuna commented masa sampai is, 'cantik mekap!'. Heeee... :-D Didn't get to meet the songstress tho.

Found out later, not only is she Yuna's cousin, she's also a budak Kolam Ayer. Nope, not sspkl, tapi Sekolah Menengah SAINS Seri Puteri a.k.a SESERI. Hahahaha sumpah rasa tua gila time dapat tau, since SESERI ini terwujud beberapa tahun after I left SSPKL, then SSP pun pindah ke Cyberjaya and the old school ditukar jadi sekolah sains pulak. So sekarang super junior kat SESERI dah kahwin, dan saya pun belum?! Oh noes.

It was a good long weekend for me, got to see new places, eat good food (sumpah naik 2 kg balik dari Jengka! Demmit!), meet new people, make new friends...di mana lagi kalau bukan di negara saya, di Malaysia.

Selamat Hari Malaysia, beloved Malaysians!

Purple

Tengah chatting dengan Naem, tiba-tiba lagu Ungu dari album kedua mereka, "Kerna Dia Kamu" main kat Window Media Playerku. Tergelak kecil, this song reminds me of their early days. Kalau peminat Ungu yang baru kenal kumpulan ni dari zaman lagu "Demi Waktu", mesti tak percaya kalau tengok penampilan awal Ungu.

Penampilan Ungu sekarang. Kereeeeen, bukan?

Ok tengok sekali lagi,

Wah wah wahhhh!

Now, let's take a look at them, before they came to their senses and hire a good stylist:

Hahahhaahaha...tak tahaaaaaan!

Dupatta

Dulu masa pergi India, all of us bought at least 2 pasang kain utk buat salwar kameez. And most of us went to a tailor there utk tempah, lgsg siap 7 pasang dlm masa less than 24hrs you!

7 pasang in less than 24 hours!

I bought mine coz I love the color, and most of all the shawl. Masalahnya, satu dah la saya memang kurang reti pakai tudung belit-belit ni. 2, selendang untuk salwar kameez or Dupatta ni, saiz dia lain sikit. Wider and longer. Nak pakai, tak reti. Tak pakai, sayang. Banyak lagi kain salwar kameez saya beli kat India dulu, takkan nak biar Dupatta dia tinggal terperuk dalam almari pulak.

Last-last, I settled on this style!

Not sure if it's an original design, i doubt it. Dah macam a cross between tudung Siti Nurhaliza dgn Benazir Bhutto, hahaaha...yang penting, persoalan "Apo den nak buek dgn menatang dupatta ni?" sudah pun terjawab, ihiyyy!

Why Celcom BlueCube sucks

I've been a loyal Celcom customer for years. I had a short stint as a Maxis user for like a few months when I was 18, and that's it. Been with Celcom ever since. Thank you Celcom for recognizing my loyalty and upgraded me to be a Premium Customer.

And I rarely have any problems with Celcom, Thank God!

Except for this.

Saya selalu rengsa dengan pekerja Blue Cube Midvalley! Bukan sekali, bukan dua...tapi dah 5 kali (ye, saya kira) berhadapan dengan pekerja2 kurang sopan, kurang ajar, kurang manis kat situ. And if you wonder, aik...dah 5 kali tak serik lagi? Saya dah serik by 2nd time. The rest is when I go with other people yang nak berurusan disitu. Setiap kali, dalam hati mesti terdetik, "BlueCube Midvalley ni biasanya pekerja dia sangat kurang ajar. Tapi takpe, let's give them a chance to redeem themselves" and still, still...they just have to go and prove me right!

Yang terakhir, last weekend. Mom wants to go to pay her bills, which she had to do at a Celcom centre to get the receipt else she can't claim back from her office. Okay, since we were in Midvalley, she wants to go to Bluecube. Okay lagi.

Sampai je kat sana, ada 2 staffs. 1 Malay guy and 1 Chinese lady. The Chinese lady came to my mom and asked, "Nak apa?" Mak pun kata lah, nak bayar bill. Mom and I was like, errr...so? Weyy lu ingat kitorang tak mampu pakai card credit ke, dodol!

Upon realizing that we indeed, want to pay with credit card, she shrugged and walked away to her station behind a PC. My mom followed and sat in front of her. For a good 10 minutes, she didn't address my mom at all. Instead, she was busy typing and laughing at probably something funny in her computer, and although we were puzzled with her behaviour, we waited.

Then another customer came, a Chinese family. She jumped up and greeted them, all smiles. Darah panglima gua pun mendidih la, I asked her why did she leave my mom macam tu je? Jawapan dia. "Oh, computer tu tak boleh buat payment."

Eh lancau! Dah takleh nak buat payment, kau cakap lah siang-siang! Kau ingat, orang suka ke nak mengadap muka kau yang tak cantik tu macam orang bodoh?! Rupanya kena pergi kat komputer satu lagi. Minah tu buat muka tak bersalah je, siap angkat bahu, then turn around nak layan customer yang baru datang tu. Aku sound la, "You could have said something instead of wasting our time!" And dia buat muka tak dengar. Eiii, customer service pungkoq hang! We don't mind waiting, but the least you could do is to treat your customers with courtesy lah!

Seriously Celcom, I love you but...you've got to do something about your customer service people. They're the frontliners, they represent the brand and what it stands for, and from what was reflected from this girl's behaviour, memang FAIL! Please, for your own sake, send them for some courtesy training.

I googled, and I found some interesting blog entries, by people who were unhappy with your BlueCube services. You can read them here, here and here. Just so you see that I'm not alone when I say, you suck!

March 2017 - 'Ada Apa Dengan Jogja?' (Part 2.5)

Honestly tho, I have nothing much to say about the show, except what everyone would already know...It was AH-MAY-ZINGGGG!!! *fangirling mod...
