I'm going back...

To this place.

And to the city I once knew.

Sengaja aku datang ke kotamu Lama nian tidak bertemu Ingin diriku mengulang kembali Berjalan jalan bagai tahun lalu Walau diriku kini tlah berdua Dirimupun tiada berbeda Namun kenangan sepanjang jalan itu Tak mungkin lepas dari ingatanku Sepanjang jalan kenangan Kita slalu bergandeng tangan Sepanjang jalan kenangan Kau peluk diriku mesra Hujan yang rintik rintik Di awal bulan itu Menambah nikmatnya malam syahdu

Meow!

Hampir setiap kali kalau ke Singapore, saya sempatkan diri beli at least sebotol perfume. Stock setahun, katanya. Hehehe...even when Raudha met me last Monday, that's what she asked. "Beli perfume tak?"

Those who follow me on twitter, might have read my ramblings (read: meroyan) about nyonya cina who made such a big fuss about my perfume. Siapa yang belum tahu, makcik tu sudah pergi mengadu lah sama bos-bos besar, that I wear too much perfume.

Duhh??!

It doesn't matter that other people wears perfume too. It doesn't matter that she complains about the smell even when I am not around. It also doesnt matter that the complains comes from her and her alone. It doesn't matter that I've been using the same scents for about a year already and NOW baru kau nak mengadu? It doesn't matter. Dasar perempuan sengaja mencari pasal.

So. Naturally. Lagilah TERPAKSA beli perfume baru biar lebih TERGANGGU hidung dia, kan? alasan

I end up buying this:

Meow is the second fragrance from the American pop singer Katy Perry. The fragrance is announced as very sweet, inspired by the magical land of Candyfornia.
Meow is developed by Givaudan perfumers. The fragrance opens with notes of tangerine, pear, jasmine and gardenia; the heart are honeysuckle, lily of the valley and orange blossom, while the sweet base features aromas of amber, vanilla, sandalwood and musk.
The bottle design follows its feline – like predecessor. Katy, inspired by vintage milk vials, wanted the bottle to be opaque and pale pink. The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum. Meow was launched in 2011.

It's not as strong as I had intended to buy untuk sakitkan hati makcik tu. Hahaha...reason being, kang kuat sangat perfume, aku pun sakit hati juga! Migraine! LOL! Love the sweet, also innocent and playful scent of this perfume. Fruity and flowery at the same time. Dah lah botol dia cute gila!

Scent dia soft gila that it takes several spritz baru dapat bau. Kalau nyonya tu mengadu lagi, aku baling kasut je ke dia.

Nota: My sisters would definitely say, I've a thing with Bimbos perfume. Dulu pernah beli perfume Kak Britney, Adik Paris, Kak J-Lo...and now this.

Makanan Sihat Mahal?

"Dia boleh lah kurus, dia anak orang kaya. Mampu beli makanan sihat!"

Bukan pertama kali, saya dengar ayat seperti diatas. Makanan sihat dan rendah kalori tu mahal? Betul ke?

Well, bagi saya, tak semestinya. Mungkin, bila orang bayangkan makanan low calories, orang terus terbayang salad. Baik beli ayam, kenyang! So...there.

Tapi...

I believe it's all about, the choices you make. Kita tinggalkan sebentar comparison sayur dan ayam tadi.

Let's picture this for a moment.

Waktu makan tengahari. Kita ke gerai nasi campur. Pilihan lauk pauk terbentang luas. Perut berkeroncong minta diisi. Ambil nasi (separuh saja ya!)...lepas tu, pilih lauk. Ayam goreng sebelah ayam panggang, atau sup ayam. Sebelah sana, ikan goreng bersebelahan ikan bakar. Yang mana satu idaman kalbu?

Setahu saya.

Harga? SAMA.

Beralih ke kedai makanan segera pula. Subway bersebelahan dengan McDonalds. Double Cheeseburger McDonalds, looks yummy! RM7.65 ala carte. Calories? 490kcal. Subway...let's see. Sub of the day, RM7.50. 6-inch Meatball Marinara, 560kcal! Gasp! But...but...jom tengok serving size pulak. Double Cheeseburger, baru 170gram. On the other hand, Subway Meatball Marinara is 370gram, lebih 2 kali ganda lebih besar. Makan 1 je, kenyangggggg!

So. Kalau kita nak samakan dari segi serving size. 1 Subway Meatball Marinara with 560kcal, is equal to 2 Double Cheeseburger with 980kcal. And harganya pun, double lah kan?

One might argue, who would buy 2 double cheeseburgers anyway? No. Instead you'll get the whole set (value for money, katanya) lengkap fries and air segelas. Sebab tak kenyang lah makan double cheeseburger saja kan! 1 Double Cheeseburger, 490kcal. Medium Fries, 380kcal. Medium Coke, 146kcal. Total calories: 1,016kcal. Harga RM11.95 (belum termasuk tax).

Bak kata Nabil Raja Lawak... Lu pikirlah sendiri!

Nota:
Semangkuk meehon sup (350 kalori)
Segelas air kacang soya (60 kalori)
Sepotong buah segar (60 kalori)
TOTAL: 470kcal

sepinggan kuih teow goreng (600 kalori)
sebotol minuman ringan (150 kalori)
semangkuk bubur caca (300 kalori)
TOTAL: 1050 kalori

Hmmm...decisions, decisions...

Naik Tangga, Turun Tangga

Again, this started from a simple tweet. I tweeted, Nak panjat tangga Batu Caves. Then Ili said she wanted to do that too, then Kikin yang duduk sekangkang kera dari Batukep pun nak join! And lastly Raina, who decided to join us at the very last minute!

So...woke up early last Saturday to do just that. The last and only time I did this was ages ago...I was probably around 8 back then. Yes, it has been THAT long! Maka...Jom panjat tangga Batukep!

Was the first to arrive. It was a very beautiful morning!

Posing before naik. Di belakang yang berkilau itu adalah the world's tallest statue of Lord Muruga, a Hindu deity.

All 272 steps.

And...we reached the top in about, 10 minutes! hahahaha...takde lah separah yang kami sangka, sebelum tu dah nervous takut tercabut lutut! Tapi sempat la jugak semput separuh jalan, lepas tu ada uncle Cina ni jalan selamba pakai selipar jamban lalu. Saya dengan ramah tamah menegur, "Uncle, you pakai selipar saja ke?" Dengan senyum dia berkata... "Ini jalan saja, maaa..." Dush dushh!! Rasa seperti kena invincible slap sehh! PediH! hahhaah....

Suasana dalam gua. Seketika terasa macam berada di negara lain, tak pun planet lain.

WE DID IT!

Coming down was actually the hardest part. Sebab kami adalah gayat. Sampai je bawah, saya terus menjerit keriangan. But, my happiness was short-lived. Ada Indian Uncle ni dengan tersenyum berkata..."I do this, 7 times, everyday...for the last 20 years"

Gulp!

Macam tercekik biji mangga rasanya. Hahhaa...saya baru 1 round dah nak eksyen, dia 7 round setiap hari? Homai!

Hahaha...terus menuju ke kedai makan terdekat for this...

celebratory breakfast! We had puree, capati, tose, with Teh Susu Lembu yang sungguh lemak berkrim. So yummy!

Let's do this again soon!

Nota: In case, anda tak tahu Batu Caves tu apa...

The limestone forming Batu Caves is said to be around 400 million years old. Some of the cave entrances were used as shelters by the indigenous Temuan people (a tribe of Orang Asli).

As early as 1860, Chinese settlers began excavating guano for fertilising their vegetable patches. However, they became famous only after the limestone hills were recorded by colonial authorities including Daly and Syers as well as American Naturalist, William Hornaday in 1878.

Batu Caves was promoted as a place of worship by K. Thamboosamy Pillai, an Indian trader. He was inspired by the 'vel'-shaped entrance of the main cave and was inspired to dedicate a temple to Lord Muruga within the caves. In 1890, Pillai, who also founded the Sri Mahamariamman Temple, Kuala Lumpur, installed the murti (consecrated statue) of Sri Subramania Swamy in what is today known as the Temple Cave. Since 1892, the Thaipusam festival in the Tamil month of Thai (which falls in late January/early February) has been celebrated there.

Wooden steps up to the Temple Cave were built in 1920 and have since been replaced by 272 concrete steps. Of the various cave temples that comprise the site, the largest and best known is the Temple or Cathedral Cave, so named because it houses several Hindu shrines beneath its high vaulted ceiling.

Rising almost 100 m above the ground, the Batu Caves temple complex consists of three main caves and a few smaller ones. The biggest, referred to as Cathedral Cave or Temple Cave, has a very high ceiling and features ornate Hindu shrines. To reach it, visitors must climb a steep flight of 272 steps.

At the base of the hill are two more cave temples, Art Gallery Cave and Museum Cave, both of which are full of Hindu statues and paintings. This complex was renovated and opened as the Cave Villa in 2008. Many of the shrines relate the story of Lord Murugan's victory over the demon Soorapadam. An audio tour is available to visitors.

The Ramayana Cave is situated to the extreme left as one faces the sheer wall of the hill. On the way to the Ramayana Cave, there is a 50-foot (15 m) tall statue of Hanuman and a temple dedicated to Hanuman, the noble monkey devotee and aide of Lord Rama. The consecration ceremony of the temple was held in November 2001.

The Ramayana Cave depicts the story of Rama in a chronicle manner along the irregular walls of the cave.

A 42.7-metre (140 ft) high statue of Lord Muruga was unveiled in January 2006, having taken 3 years to construct. It is the tallest Lord Muruga statue in the world.

Oh Sayang, Marilah Kita Tengok Wayang?

If I'm not mistaken, adalah parody kepada lagu Raja Ema yg dinyanyikan oleh Isma Alif. "Oh, sayang...marilah kita tengok wayang. Tiket dah beli siang-siang...mari sayang~~~" Err...tak pernah? Ok then. :p

Sebab takde kena mengena pun lagu tu dengan entry ni. Saja lah nak mengimbau kenangan silam. Hehehe...

Anyway. Cakap pasal wayang. Yesterday, LS (a.k.a Mrs. Yusry) tweeted. She said...
"Siapa nk layan 29Februari3D bersama KRU NormanKRU YusryKRU dan EdryKRU, sertai mereka di Alamanda jam 10mlm. Rugi kalau tk join. :)"
Okay. So I thought. I do need to see the movie. Heard some good reviews about it. Malaysia's 1st 3D movie yo! Tengok satu panggung dengan KRU, itu bonus. Hahaha...those who knew me from way back when would know how I was (past tense ya disitu hahahah in denial giler) a HUGE fan of theirs. Since I was 12!

Terus whatsapp adindaku. "Nak tengok 29 Februari 3D?" Both my sisters have seen the movie, tapi in 2D. Kat mana, she asked. "Alamanda, 10pm". Nak nak nak nak nakkkk!! Well. She must have read the tweet too. Yang bongsu pun menggelupur nak ikut.

Sinopsis filem 29 Februari

Filem 29 Februari terbitan KRU Studios menampilkan lakonan hebat Remy Ishak, Jojo Goh, Izzue Islam, Fizz Fairuz, Namron, Wan Hanafi Su dan Dian P Ramlee.
One for the album.

Boleh tahan ramai jugak orang datang, considering it's a Monday nite, show pukul 10 malam pula.

We're ready to watch the show!

Skodeng the brothers.

Bang Long.

Bang Chik (oh dia nampak sihat selepas berkahwin! Iri hatinyaaaa.... #EH)

Didi. The director of the movie. His 2nd attempt after the award winning 'Magika'

Oh. Ini. Hero 29 Februari. Encik Remy. Yah. Dia kacak.

The 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

My take on the movie: A VERY good attempt. Tang teknikal memang banyak yang perlu diperbaiki lagi, esp when they used some actual footages of historical events, tapi itu saya rasa sangat boleh dimaafkan. Suntingan, agak choppy. Agaknya to cramp 120 years in 1 movie bukanlah perkara mudah. I enjoyed the movie very much. And I think everyone should go and watch it! I'm proud to say that Malaysia pun dah mampu terbitkan filem 3D (walaupun, kesan 3D dia tak gile babeng but, alah filem hollywood pun byk mcm tu!)

Nota: Saya tak mengerti mengapa Remy Ishak minta satu salinan gambar Instax dia bersama adik saya. Mengapa Remy, mengapaaaaa??? Ciss bedebah. Yang pasti adik saya tak lena tidur dibuatnya. Hahahaha...angauese!

How I did it

Lost about 17 kg in 6 months.
Naturally, people were asking me, "apa kau buat??" "apa rahsianya?" "kau pakai korset ** ke?" dan macam-macam lagi.
Some were kind, some were really nasty about it.

So here's how I did it:

In February, I decided to change my lifestyle. You know, eat healthily, live actively. It all started when a colleague collapsed at work due to stroke. He was merely 40. Kalau tengok dia, memang nampak macam sihat tapi rupanya ada darah tinggi. That's when I thought, okay. Tak boleh jadi ni.  I've to start taking care of my health! So the aim wasn't to lose weight, saya cuma nak lebih sihat. Berat badan turun, itu saya anggap satu bonus!

In between February to May, I lost about 10 kg. What I did? I learnt about my daily calorie requirement, and I applied that dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. I joined Jazzercise, pergi gym, run on weekends with my mom, buat kerja rumah, joget dalam kereta...apa2 je lah yang boleh burn more calories!

Then end of May, I got sick. Doctor diagnosed me with hyper-thyroidism. Nothing to do with my change of lifestyle, I think...tapi saya percaya, mungkin when I started living healthily, toxin dalam badan semua keluar, tu yang penyakit dalam badan pun keluar sama. Wallahualam. Seminggu di hospital, 3 kg turun. Orang kat ofis, mulut jahat gila. Menuduh saya masuk hospital sebab overdose ubat kurus. Sampai bertengkar jugak lah lepas saya keluar hospital tu. Geram seh!

Lepas tu I just kept to my routine, with a slight adjustment. I stopped going for Jazzercise (For now. InsyaAllah will go back soon) coz I wasn't sure my heart (fyi hyper-thyroidism causes the heart to beat really fast) could take it. Perlahan-lahan berat badan turun lagi dan lagi, Alhamdulillah!

So now. 17kg lighter. By doing it the hard way. And i believe...it's the ONLY way to do it!

What I did on Merdeka Day

It started when I was chatting with this guy. Kalau anda-anda rajin nak baca blog dia, you will find out that this guy loves hiking, and more often than not, he went alone. So saya iseng bilang, "you know what i should try that one day". His reply was of coz, "you should!"

Lepas tu saya terfikir. Ya lah...why haven't I tried it before? Seriously. Umur segini, saya belum pernah hiking.

So I tweeted about it. Next thing i know, Syu replied, and we were making plans to hike up Bukit FRIM that very weekend.

I invited my mom and Ida to join us, so last Friday I found myself di kaki Bukit FRIM with 2 of my high school friends and my mom.

I love the fact that Mom is joining me for all these activities, so we're supporting each other to get fit and healthy!

My verdict? Syok gile woooo! We're planning to do this more often, terus berangan-angan nak panjat bukit dan gunung yang lain pula. It's a great way to spend time with friends and family. The ultimate destination is of course, Gunung Kinabalu. aminnn...

Thanks Faisal for giving me the nudge. Next time...Gunung Rinjani perhaps? Hahahhaa...

Nota: Baru panjat Bukit Frim yg 1000 kaki terus berhajat nak panjat Gunung Kinabalu yang 13,435 kaki tu! Takpe...Malaysia Boleh!

My Current Craze: Oiso @ The Sphere, Bangsar South

Honestly, I found this restaurant almost by accident. I've heard about it when some friends tweeted about this restaurant, but I didn't pay much attention as I was never a fan of Korean food.

So one day, went to The Sphere which is like, 5 mins away from home. Mula2 nak makan kat Little Taiwan, there were no one else there...ZERO, 4 orang pekerja and no one even care to glance at me. Dah duduk dalam 5 minit, tengok pekerja semua buat hal masing-masing...so saya pun langsung angkat kaki.

Kedai sebelah, which was Oiso, a different story all together. Belum sempat masuk pun dia dah layan baik with their "Anyong haseyo, anyong haseyoooo..." terus kaki rasa nak masuk kedai tu.

One of my best decision ever.

Why I like Oiso:

1. Service memang tip-top. From the owner (Mr Kim Young Jun) sampai semua pekerja, semua ramah dan melayan kita dengan senyuman. Mr. Kim siap offer nak ajar saya bahasa korea! Aigooo...
2. The food are delicious! Haahaha...Mak saya pun dah kata saya gila makan kat sini, asyik2 nak makan kat sini je sebab memang sedapppp! Like I said, I was never a fan of korean food, tried it several times tapi macam so-so je, tapi yang ni memang kena dengan tekak saya.
3. Harga, murah meriah. Esp kalau pergi siang, harga lunch time cheaper dari harga dinner time. Tapi kalau datang for dinner, you get free steam egg in pot or kimchi pancake (worth rm10.90) for free if you order 2 dinner set.

Layan gambar lah...

The owner kindly gave us these carbonated drinks for free during our last visit!
